Being an entrepreneur is not always easy, but owning and operating your own business as a sex coach can reap so many benefits to your personal and professional life. While at times there can be a large amount of responsibility on your shoulders, ultimately you are working from a high place of empowerment—taking ownership and power over your professional life and the service you provide to your clients. Ultimately you are in the driver’s seat, you call the shots, and you decide how to move through the world with your business as an extension of you.

The new year is blossoming, and there might be an air of freshness around you as you step into the next chapter of your life and business. You can use this momentum of fresh energy to propel yourself through an uplevel in your business, but you need to start within before working outward. In this article, I’ll give you three different rituals—to get you grounded and prepared in your inner world so you can reflect that energy outward into your business going into the new year.

Gratitude Ritual for The New Year

As an entrepreneur, it can be so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of your business that you forget the big picture. Before moving forward, it can be helpful to take stock of where you are now. The new year is the perfect opportunity to reflect on how far you’ve come so you can look forward to the future with your refined vision and goals in mind. This is a grounding exercise, meant to assist you in reflection on the past year before focusing on the future.

Take some time to sit in your office or workspace and set the mood. Delight your senses with a feeling of calm by using candles, lighting, or music. The goal is to ground into your body. Once you feel nice and grounded, begin by taking stock of what happened for your business this year. Whether it be any new clients, the release of an offering, or the creation of a workshop—make a list of these items in your journal. As you write them down, pay attention to the thoughts and feelings that come up for each item. How does it make you feel to see “x number of new clients for 2021” written down? What actions led to the release of that key offering this year? Reflect on these feelings and center on gratitude for all the little steps that brought you to where you are now.

To end, free-write in your journal about how you feel in your business right now. Don’t write about where you want to be, or any of your hopes and dreams. This space is to honor your most current self, at the culmination of the past year. Use these questions as prompts:

  • What does it feel like to run your own business?
  • What is one word you can use to describe your business?
  • What is something about yourself that you’re proud of?
  • What is something about your business that you’re grateful for?

Vision Board for The New Year

Having a clear vision for the upcoming year can be so helpful in setting you up for success—and creating a vision board for your business helps you put all these abstract ideas and concepts into a visual piece of art you can look at in the physical world. Choose an art medium you love. If you’re like me and can’t find much joy in drawing or painting—try a collage! But if you do find joy in another art medium, use that.

Create something that is the best reflection of how your vision looks and more importantly—how it feels. Find symbols that represent how much money you want to make, how you want to feel while giving your services, and what your business offers to the world. Include little things like the aesthetics of your office or your brand or a morning routine that gets you going.

Once your vision has been brought to life, display it in your office so you can see it every day!

Manifestation Ritual for The New Year

Writing in a journal is a great way to reflect on where you are in your business now and your vision for it in the New Year.

A huge part of getting what you want is first knowing what it is you want. While this might sound obvious, think about all the vague goals or desires you’ve had in the past. “I want a successful business” is one prominent one. In order to manifest a successful business, you have to define what a successful business is to you. What does it look like? What does it feel like?

This goes for all our goals, and for this next ritual, we are doing away with vague and cliché new year resolutions. What is it you really, really want?

Grab your journal once more and set the mood in a calming way that works for you. Start out with a brief meditation or breathwork session to get you grounded in your body. Once you’re there, open your journal. For this ritual, choose 3-5 of your “new year’s resolutions” similar to the one I mentioned above and write them down. What are you dreaming about for your business this year? Success? Money? Recognition?

Make sure to consider if these goals are SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound). Using this criteria when setting goals can create a lot of clarity around what action to take, and also help you focus your action accordingly. SMART goals help direct a clear path, rather than running in circles. Click here to learn more.

Then for each of your chosen items, start with a new page and write about what they will feel like. Get ridiculously specific and write them each out as if they have already happened. As if you are already living it! Write about the day you reached a million followers on social media or the day your bank account hit $100k. Write about waking up to a beach sunrise, or getting a luxury massage on your lunch break. Write these stories in the present tense, and get as specific as you possibly can. Focus on the feeling in your body as you imagine these future scenarios as your current self.

This part of the exercise will ground your goals and make them feel much more real and achievable.

Adjust to Your Liking

Rituals are just repeated actions with a specific intention, and these three examples can be adjusted to better fit your intentions in any way. The important thing to remember is that you are using the energy of the new year to take time to reflect and look forward—feeling gratitude for where you’ve come from, honoring where you are, and believing in where you are going.

Happy New Year!
