What to Expect as a Student at Sex Coach U

Sex Coach U is a structured, professional certification program grounded in sexology, coaching, and business. Two tracks lead to certification: the Core Certified Sex Coach Track and the Experienced Practitioner Track, and both end at the same credential: you graduate as a Certified Sex Coach™, with real client experience, practical tools, and a professional community behind you.

The Three Paths

Core Certified Sex Coach Track — The most immersive route. An 18-month program combining expert-led courses with live coaching labs, hands-on practice sessions, ongoing mentoring, and personalized one-on-one support from a dedicated Student Advisor. Best for those new to coaching or sexology who want a fully guided experience from the ground up, though experienced professionals are welcome too.

Experienced Practitioner Track — A streamlined, self-paced certification over 12 months, open to credentialed or licensed professionals already working in one-to-one client settings: therapists, counselors, psychologists, ICF Certified Coaches, and healthcare providers in sexuality-related fields. Your existing training in client work is what makes the shorter path possible. Admissions requirements apply. This track focuses on the core curriculum, with optional live group or individual support available à la carte. Those who qualify may still choose the Core Certified Sex Coach Track if they want more structured support or a deeper focus on coaching skills.

Master of Science in Sex Coaching — A graduate degree granted by the International Institute of Clinical Sexology (IICS), running 18 to 24 months online. Sex Coach U certification transfers toward it, covering up to 30 of the 60 credits required, and the degree opens the pathway to the Clinical Sexology PhD at IICS. Admission is set by IICS and requires either a bachelor’s degree or a professional license in healthcare, medicine, or mental health; a bachelor’s degree in any field combined with Sex Coach U certification also qualifies. Most students come to the Masters after certifying with Sex Coach U. Add Business Training: BOSS

BOSS: Business of Sexuality Specialists — is business training rather than a certification track, and it works alongside whichever path you choose.

A 12-month program covering branding, pricing, marketing, and building a sustainable practice. Included automatically with the Core Certified Sex Coach Track. Experienced Practitioner Track students receive Business Quickstart, a streamlined introduction to the same material, with the option to upgrade to full BOSS at any time. BOSS is also available as a standalone program for practitioners who aren’t enrolled in certification.

The Curriculum: Four Modules

All certification paths move through the same four-module structure, 21 courses in total.

Module 1: Foundations of Sex Coaching

Where it starts. You’ll cover the history of the profession, an overview of clinical sexology, sexual orientation and gender identity, sexual rights and values, and develop assessment and action-planning skills grounded in contemporary clinical models.

Module 2: Essentials of Our Profession

Core coaching skills, the life stages of sexual development, sexual anatomy, and sex and the body, including sexual function, orgasm, and physical sexual concerns.

Module 3: Knowledge & Skills Enhancement

Advanced coaching attributes, relationships and sexual concerns, BDSM and CNM frameworks, strategies for special circumstances including pregnancy, disability, and medical issues, and ethical standards and practices.

Module 4: Synthesis

Where everything comes together. The coaching practice, challenging situations and clients, integration of sexology and coaching skills, your supervised practicum, and a final focus on thriving, flourishing, and sustaining yourself as a practitioner.

What Your Week Looks Like

The two certification tracks ask for a similar number of hours each week. What differs is how much of that time is scheduled. The Core Certified Sex Coach Track has nine live sessions a month; the Experienced Practitioner Track has five.

Core Certified Sex Coach Track

Core Certified Sex Coach Track students can expect 10 to 15 hours per week of self-paced coursework, plus two live sessions per month. Nine live sessions are available each month. Two are required, and recorded rewatches count toward that requirement. The other seven are there if you want to make the most of your training.

• Brag-a-Thon, monthly, to share wins, stay accountable, and practice showing up
• Student Advisor Office Hours, monthly, for direct access to the Sex Coach U team
• Book & Media Club, monthly, focused on coaching competency for different client types
• Personalized one-on-one support from your dedicated Student Advisor, as needed
• Discord channel for networking, connection, and occasional live community events

That is nine live sessions available in a typical month, two of them required. Most sessions are at 12:00 PM ET, with Coaching Lab alternating between 7:00 PM ET and 12:00 PM ET.

Experienced Practitioner Track

Experienced Practitioner Track students can expect 10 to 12 hours per week of self-paced coursework, plus one required webinar per month. Five live sessions are available each month, and recorded replays count toward the requirement.

• Sex Coach U Co-Working, monthly

That is five live sessions available in a typical month, one of them required. One Sex Coach U Presents webinar per month meets the requirement, and recorded replays count toward it. The other sessions are there if you want them.

BOSS

BOSS students engage in:

• Self-paced business courses and fillable workbooks
• Four practical projects that build your business as you go
• Monthly live BOSS Group Coaching call
• Monthly Sex Coach U Co-Working session
• Monthly Brag-a-Thon
• Private community for accountability and feedback

After you graduate, the community stays open. Graduates gain access to GASP (Global Association of Sexology Professionals) and keep access to Sex Coach U Presents, Co-Working, Brag-a-Thon, Book & Media Club, and a monthly Community Meeting for Graduates. That is six live sessions a month, for life.

Assessment at SCU is practical and reflective:

• Written reflections within each course, responding to the lectures, films, and readings
• A Self-Assessment in each course, where you gauge your own readiness against the learning objectives

• 8 Coaching Lab write-ups (SCU Core Track)

The Practicum

This is the heart of your certification. You’ll conduct three real client sessions, recorded and reviewed by faculty. You’ll receive direct feedback, submit written case reports, and demonstrate your readiness to practice. Your Student Advisor assesses when you’re ready to graduate.

SAR: Sexual Attitude Reassessment

Every Certified Sex Coach™ completes a SAR, an immersive experience designed to deepen your self-awareness and prepare you to coach clients with openness and without bias. You may submit a completed external SAR from within the past three years. The SAR fee is separate from tuition, and many online options are available worldwide.

Support Throughout

Regardless of path, you’ll have access to:

• A private peer community of students and graduates, hosted on Discord rather than on a mainstream social platform, where sexual health language is routinely suppressed
• Sex Coach U Presents webinars with guest experts, twice monthly
• Book & Media Club
• SexSmart Films subscription

These do not end at graduation. The community, the webinars, and the Book & Media Club stay open to you for life.

Students also have a dedicated Student Advisor who tracks their progress throughout the program.

What You Graduate With

• The title Certified Sex Coach™ (CSC)
• Eligibility to apply for ABS and ASIS membership
• Transfer of up to 30 credits toward the Master of Science in Sex Coaching at the International Institute of Clinical Sexology, if you meet IICS admission requirements
• Eligibility to pursue Certified Sexologist status through the American Board of Sexology
• Eligibility to apply for individual World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) membership, extended through SCU’s organizational membership
• AASECT CE credits earned through eligible coursework
• A practical business foundation
• A global professional community

A Note on Scope

All SCU programs are talk-based. We do not teach hands-on methods. You’ll guide clients through conversation, emotional insight, and somatic awareness, without physical touch.
