As sex coaches, we will have clients who ask us questions about sex toys. They may want suggestions about what toys to purchase or tips for how to use them. We are positioned to offer our clients accurate facts to bust myths, practical guidance to expand their horizons, and support to overcome any shame or embarrassment they may feel about using pleasure products. The best way for us to prepare for these client questions is to know what is new and exciting in the sex toy industry. And, honestly, don’t we want to know for our own purposes and pleasure, too?

In this webinar, Kim Airs gave us the inside scoop on what’s new in the sex toy industry. Kim is a multi-faceted sexuality professional who holds many titles. She is a sex toy specialist, sex educator, and entrepreneur, to name a few. She has been in the adult products industry for decades as a writer, reviewer, and seller. You can find her at her online store at grandopening.com. She also provides sex education through Only Fans at onlyfans.com/kimairs. Here is her linktree so you can follow her on all of the social platforms.

No one is more knowledgeable about pleasure products than industry veteran Kim Airs, and she came to give us the information we need so we can feel confident when helping our clients choose and use sex toys.

Follow Your Sex Toy Intuition

“Get what appeals to you visually. It’s your body that is going to be using it. This is paramount.”

One of Kim’s first suggestions was to encourage our clients to find a toy that appeals to them visually, has the features they want, and provides the stimulation they desire. She said, when it comes to sex toys, it’s about finding what works for you (or your client), not just going out and buying what your friend or an influencer suggested.

Kim offered the example of the ubiquitous Magic Wand. It’s a fantastic pleasure product that provides superb stimulation, but it’s not the best option for someone who really wants a dildo.

“It’s like a plate of food. If you don’t like what the food looks like, you’re not going to want to eat it.”

Pay Attention to the Details When Buying Sex Toys Online

Kim also suggested paying close attention to the features and details of a toy when buying online. She recommended noting the size, shape, texture, color, and charging method of the toy before purchasing. She added, “Batteries are a thing of the past. They are mostly rechargeable these days.”

It is essential to read the description details and not just go by the pictures of the toy. It is also good to know if the merchant offers a satisfaction guarantee or return policy.

“Unfortunately, when people buy a sex toy that they aren’t really into, it is a waste of money.

It collects dust unused in the nightstand drawer, and it may turn them off from buying sex toys again in the future.”

What’s Trending in the Sex Toy Industry

So, what’s trending in the sex toy industry right now? Kim gave us a big scoop of insider knowledge. The first trend is sex toys with remote controls. These products are fun when playing with a partner, of course. They are also ideal for masturbation! Using a remote to adjust the settings is much easier than fumbling around between your legs trying to figure out which button does what.

Another trend is sex toys with app controls. They are great for people in the same room or for people who are playing at a distance from each other. She even demonstrated how the app works with a Satisfyer product. Satisfyer has an app that works with many of their toys—cock rings, vibrators, and clit suckers.

If you want to know more about the latest trends, check out this webinar. Kim provided a wealth of advice about specific brands, how to test toys on your forearm, how to test lube compatibility with different toy materials, and much more.

She also enlightened us on the diversity of cock rings. She showed us how they could be a great masturbation toy for people with vulvas. She talked about what to look for when buying pleasure products for larger bodies. She gave us a show-and-tell of a toy that she called a “threesome in a box.” And it even comes with a remote control.

If you’re looking to learn about sex toys from an expert, find Kim Airs. She’s out there in lots of places sharing what she knows from her 20+ years in the sex toy industry. She’s experienced, informed, and fun. She is the one who, in her words, “left her job at Harvard to sell rubber dicks to girls.”  Many people talk about sex toys these days, but Kim is the preeminent sex toy revolutionary.
